Just like hookers must get sick of sex, I gotta tell you sometimes I get overwhelmed with music – and it leaves me flacid. It’s nice to know there are still great new bands out there that give me a boner. Last year’s MIRRORED by BATTLES gave me a raging stiffy. While effortless ease, BATTLES blast out a sound that’s entirely new, yet totally welcoming.**Combining math rock, jazz, and metal into tight, shiny packages of pulsating funk, they proved that yes, you can sound like Tortoise, KID 606 and Yes all at the same time.
Oh, and with Woody Woodpecker on vocals. Ohh… I’m wet already.
