God bless ye olde record store. It’s great that you can (still) wander in and find fresh tunes you’ve never heard of, or have someone recommend awesome music you wouldn’t normally listen to.

Case in point – the fine dudes at Bravery Repetition & Noise in Newtown. They put me on to this release from Cologne-based Kompakt records. It’s dark, minimalist French house. And though a shade or two short of disco, it’s still great dancing music. Sleazy mood music fit for the early morning hours at Phoenix.**A good DJ mix is like a well-edited film, when it’s this seamless you don’t even notice. As the girl behind the vocal on classic Black Strobe hit ‘Me and Madonna’, Cardini’s got cred. And as this mix shows, she’s got skills to back it up.

Support your local record shop, or nice surprises like this will be a thing of the past.
