Less Talk More Paper Scissors, The Paper Scissors
published on 28th August, 2007

Much to the chagrin of my playground playmates, I never could get the gist of rock, paper, scissors. I mean, I knew that rock crushed scissors, scissors shredded the f*ck outta paper, and paper smothered the life outta rock. But I also knew a good kick to the g’nads could win any round regardless.

Combining the shiny sheen of scissors and the brash bravado of paper with a swift kick in the balls are Sydney’s The Paper Scissors
THE PAPER SCISSORS. These dudes are here to fill your head with white-boy blues, hollering over a shambling indie rock din. Noted for their airwave shaking hit ‘We Don’t Walk’, the full-length includes that ditty along with the infectious ‘Yamanote Line’.** With traces of dance and soul, they create a concoction that’s fresh and original on Sydney’s scene. There’s punk rock abandon embedded in these blues riffs and chorus shout-alongs; the boundless energy of this debut is barely contained. At times the screeching Frank Black-style blues bark borders on Blueshammer obnoxo. But this much enthusiasm creates a charisma that trumps all. Wanna rock? Give The Paper Scissors a shot. Just watch your g’nads, bro.
