Home-made clubs are awesome. Seriously, what’s better than getting together with mates to discuss stuff you all like? Book club, wine club, BABYSITTERS’ CLUB – these are the kinds of clubs that make life rad. And into the mix you can throw photo club, a gathering of aperture addicts who catch up to lock lenses, compare experiences and exchange ideas.

Local posse The Photo Group began in just this way and to celebrate the group’s 15-month anniversary, the 11 photographers involved decided it was time for their gallery debut. AMONGST US features fashion, still-life and travel photography and covers a bunch of mediums from gritty black and white film to plastic fantastic lomography.

While they’re not quite as polished as the pics in HARPER’S or NATIONAL GEO, the thing that draws these works together is the kick-ass enthusiasm and genuine creativity the photographers bring to the art of photography itself. Definitely worth a look.
