Anzac Bridge

I love the Anzac Bridge.

I liked it even more when it was called the Glebe Island Bridge. The tension and balance between the concrete pylons and the delicate-looking cables never fails to give me a thrill. Driving over it and enjoying the spectacular views from either side is one of Sydney’s best aesthetic experiences.**But why oh why did Bob Carr have to plant bronze statues of soldiers to spoil this pleasure? For us 74 year olds, the bridge experience is now entwined with WWI, mud, trenches, men wounded and dying. Please put these statues somewhere else Bob.
