The Thousands

You wake up, she’s there. You go to work, she’s there. You’re eating dinner, she’s there. A terrible thought for some, but an inspiration for others. Husband and wife artists, Stephanie and Richard nova Milne, collectively Ms & Mr, are endlessly exploring the depths of their relationship with video, drawing and installation art.

In one of their projects, Videodromes For The Alone, they collect archival video footage themselves as children and insert their adult selves into the footage, creating a surreal and imaginary autobiography where neither of them is ever alone.**One example: a young Ms, dancing in front of a school assembly with a present day, adult Mr dancing alongside her, taking the attention and pressure away from her.

The narratives formed are romantic and very personal to the artists, but while they are usually the protagonists, it’s possible for any viewer to imagine themselves in their place.

This will be Ms and Mr’s second solo exhibition at Kaliman Gallery.
