Mushrooms, nudes, earth, cutlery, a stairwell, wood, time, the sublime, photography, transcendence, demise. Mycology by Lyn & Tony is a forest cult idea and artistic field study into the biological branch concerned with fungi.
Their living dioramas – spotted along a descending stairwell – will introduce The Wardian Case Gallery, a space fascinated with the strange relationships between humans and plants.
The Mycology concept looks at the velocity of life, the delicacy of nature, accessibility to transcendence and notions of consumption before the art is eaten.
Renowned for arresting natural hues and native landscapes with no post-production, Lyn & Tony’s photographs will also fill the basement bar alongside a cavernous mix of sound by Luke Brown to further galvanise minds.
Courtesy of an exotic mushrooms specialist – Li-Sun from Mittagong – and THE COMMONS’ kitchen, bits of the exhibition will find their way onto plates as part of the five day food event.
