Vertigo

Sadly slapped with the ‘bland’ label, Gosford – home of high suicide rates, unemployment and traffic congestion – challenges peoples’ preconceptions this week with the launch of a dynamic exhibition dedicated to the complexities of social vertigo.

Visually exploring the sense of uncertainty, instability and impermanence surrounding our current reality, VERTIGO presents works through the eyes and ears of eight contemporary Australian artists. Expect the dislocated landscapes of Eleanor Avery, lies and illusions of David Lawrey & Jaki Middleton, relational mechanics of Ms & Mr and inventions of Simon Yates, among others.**Working across a range of media including sculpture, video, painting and kinetic installation, these diverse manifestations dissect the unease and tension that creeps in when mind and body misalign and break into an internal spin.
