Aguirre: Wrath of God

In a wildly sweeping statement, I’d like to assert that Germans in film are nutballs. Klaus Kinski, Wim Wenders, Fassbinder, Werner Herzog, Udo Kier – I mean really, need I go on? Herzog is a shining luminary not just in German cinema, but modern cinema in general. And Aguirre is one of his most highly acclaimed, a period piece about 16th century Spanish conquistadors searching the jungle for El Dorado. It also features aforementioned grade-A Germanic loony Klaus Kinski.
