California Dreaming, The Photography of Henry Diltz

Henry Diltz is living the groupie’s dream. From his days spent hanging with the band, he’s got a collection of nearly one million photographs, capturing the iconic American West Coast music scene from the 1960s – 1990s. From this collection comes CALIFORNIA DREAMING, featuring intimate shots of an impossibly perfect bill of artists including Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Tom Waits, The Doors and Neil Young. The grainy black and whites and beautifully illuminated colours portray all the flares, brown leather, sunlit velvet and dreamy paisley of the scene, along with the Romantic mythology which embodies it. – JG
