Steel City Boys

Description:
You wake up mid-morning and are instantly hit by a tidal wave of remorse from last night’s shenanigans. You need to cleanse your booze-addled soul with a day of culture. You plan trips to a gallery and theatre, and reading classics in the sun. But, who are you kidding? You’ve already locked in a re-run marathon. There’s another option though, Starting Thursday, MOP hosts an exhibition of work by Steel City Boys – a collective made up of Newcastle artists Lucas Grogan, Luke Thurgate and Darryl Bowes. Exploring "icons and stereotypes which are activated by implied or explicit moments of violence", their combined work is a clever and provocative mix of sex, violence, terror and wit. A perfect follow-up to that early morning bloody Mary. – LM
