If any band of now needs to be heard live or on a 7", it’s the Straight Arrows. Their live set is Jagger struts, disjointed guitar and daisy chains, best experienced in a garage or somewhere with similar acoustics. To compare the Hopetoun to a car hole is a little rough, but if there’s one pub that can do the Arrows justice, this is it. The smell, the fug, the sweat – proof we can still launch it like they used to. – NS
