The Pet Rocks

Remember pet rocks, that slightly deranged 70s fad? Probably not. But ask your parents; they were the hemp-and-macramé era’s answer to Cabbage Patch Kids and Tamagotchis – clean, cheap, well-behaved, um, pet rocks. Well, The Pet Rocks are none of these things. But they’re just as laid-back and worthy of your attention. This lot have a knack of developing a solid friendship with your indie rock sensibilities, while unhinging the part of your brain that controls voluntary actions like getting up and dancing like those EMPIRE RECORDS kids did up on that rooftop. For once, the 70s version blows in comparison. -ST
