The Red Balloon

Use your artistic powers for good. In February this year bushfires devastated Victoria, claiming the lives of 173 people, and destroying over 5000 homes, schools and businesses. Photographer Billy Law explored the ravaged townships of Marysville and Kingslake, heared the stories of loss and witnessed collective resilience. His medium format photographs capture the ashy desolation of the scorched bushland scenes, each punctured with a single red balloon floating above the rubble. To Law, the balloons represent courage. All donations and sales commissions will be given to the Victorian Bushfire Appeal. – JB
