Mixtapes were, without a doubt, the best thing about the 20th Century. The Theory of Relativity, Cornflakes, Penicillin, teabags, sporks, velcro, crayons and the frisbee were all quite impressive inventions, but I’m sure you’ll agree there’s a clear winner here.

Where was the frisbee when you were clumsily trying to hammer your angsty teenage feelings into a shape another person might understand, hmmm? Where was Einstein when your ‘soulmate’ dumped you for that dude with the hair? Did Penicillin save you when you were so sick with love you sang ‘The End of the Road‘ 17 times on a deserted beach? No. Mixtapes did.**90 minutes spent pondering how best to arrange 22 songs that express the inexpressible and you’re pretty much cured of whatever ails you. And receiving a mix tape? Feels better than that time you punched a cone and accidently vomited everywhere but Crushy McCrushface still wanted to mack with you.

A couple of pages of Cassette From My Ex and you’ll see it’s a global phenomenon. Also, the geniuses behind it have rebirthed a bunch of other peoples’ mixtapes so you can listen to them online! Voyeurism at its best.
