Felicia ‘Snoop’ Pearson, ‘Grace After Midnight’
published on 24th July, 2010

We all know Snoop the stone-cold killer on The Wire. Now meet Felicia ‘Snoop’ Pearson – the inspiration and actor behind the character.

In her memoir Grace After Midnight, Felicia takes us for one hell of a ride: From her birth as a crossed-eyed crack baby to running a Baltimore corner; her conviction for second-degree murder; five years in "Grandma’s House" (jail), where she sets up shop selling dildos made from bandages (available in four sizes!); her obsessions with Tupac ("That ain’t music, that’s poetry, ain’t it?") and the Cosby spin-off TV show A Different World; and finally her release and discovery by Michael K. Williams (Omar) from The Wire.

Felicia’s storytelling voice is stronger and clearer than her Baltimore mumble on The Wire. She effortlessly recounts outrageous tales told to her by fellow inmates, challenges sexual preferences on the street and makes you melt when she is reunited with her Mama after five years away. Always considered, unassuming and direct, Grace After Midnight is an entertaining and mind-boggling story of someone who has made it with the odds stacked against them. Respect to Snoop!
