High Fashion Crime Scenes
published on 12th July, 2006

Like something Patsy and Eddie might have dreamt up in the wee hours, HIGH FASHION CRIME SCENES takes fashion to the heights of bad taste and depends on knowing the right people.

Melanie Pullen’s collection of photographs are based on vintage crime scenes that she mined from the archives of various police departments. She’s in good company with Prada, Chanel and Bvlgari lending their couture to her selected fashion victims. And the book finds Kirsten Dunst and Juliette Lewis, among others raped, slashed and dangling in beautiful high resolution. Pullen has said that it was her intention to “take aim at society’s glamorization of violent acts”… so she glamorised violent acts. Obviously the fashion police were busy dunkin’ donuts that day. HIGH FASHION CRIME SCENES would be funny if they weren’t so serious.
