You know Morgs and Lisa from this e-newsletter you’re reading right now. They’re good those two – they know what they like and they like to spread what they know. But lurking behind their love of 180-word reviews has long lain a desire to run free! To write things that are as long as they darn well please, with no pesky editorial guidelines to fence them in. They had a feeling there were other frustrated communicators out there too, with abandoned articles left festering in dark cupboards. So they put word out and gathered up some of these overlooked gems, putting together a spacious but slim newspaper that encourages people to experiment with words and images in print format.
Inside you’ll find things that you like and things that you don’t. This is inevitable. I loved Marcus Rechsteiner’s awe-struck recollections about swimming at midnight with topless girls, Chris Sammut’s piece on punk and having a nice arse, and Max’s confession about feeling funny around famous people. I hated the text message conversation between Misha Hollenbach and Jack Jeweller. In fact it made me want to claw my own eyes out. But other people will love it, and I’m glad it’s there. It’s interesting to witness what these semi-cult figures actually think about.
At just $2 this is a total steal, and you should go get one. Now, I’m off to trawl through my own dusty cupboards for words that will make some other poor sod claw his eyes out.
