Remo General Store
published on 24th June, 2009

Walking into Remo General Store like ducking into Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory, except Wonka Bars have been replaced with banana guards, creams, cutlery and other bizarre bits all compiled by a friendly and excitable guy called Remo.

Remo opened his General Store in 1988. Since then, it has dabbled in Darlinghurst, Bondi, the World Wide Web and most recently, back to Bondi (full story available here).

Like his website, Remo’s new store features an overwhelming concoction of ‘Rem’o'Matic’ and ‘Design’o'Matic’ slightly marvellous things. The tiny service counted is encased in a rainbow selection of Dumpling Dynasty gift collections, Educated Monkeys, Book darts, New York-style ceramic take out cups and other oddities Wonka couldn’t dream of.

Behind the counter is Remo’s manufacturing centre, where T-shirts are pressed, orders are shipped and Remo is churning out a slew of ideas both on and offline. Be it the ever-changing signage out front or how to Tweet a T-shirt, Remo’s factory of ideas is never, ever, idle.
