Sweets Workshop, in a sun-kissed suburb called Summer Hill. What is this, the land of milk and honey? Cute names aside – this shop slash gallery is seriously cute. The couple who own it, John and Emma, are cute. Their blog, where they write about their pet plant Madge, and imagine that their retro counter would tell stories of cocktail parties and fondue sets, is cute. Their array of handpicked zines, including Mechelle Bounpraseuth’s Little Book of Bearded Chaps and Dawn Tan’s A-Z of My Favourite Things is cute, and a little bit cool.

Gelato flavoured ceramics from Clay Australia litter the window like chunky lollies, while the walls are covered with Gocco prints by Ghostpatrol, Emmajane Illustration, John D-C and Benconservato. Cute, right? And before long they’re launching their own range of hand-assembled stationery and teatowels. But it’s not a total cuteness overload. Tell you what will be tough? Staying away. Cos now I got me a sweet tooth.
