Anything. I repeat, anything, that quotes Agent Dale Cooper from Twin Peaks, instantly wins. That anything could be a homicidal and deranged dugong and it would win. And that’s saying a lot. I mean, it helps that the anything I am talking about here is a shop and designer that is already very likeable. Therese Rawsthorne, nee Youth World, is known for her wearable classics: tux vests, drape pants, swing tank dresses, crisp shirts and trenchcoats, that all come in a serious but not stern palette of lilacs, peach, cream and khaki. Her SS11/12 ‘The Falling’ is, kinda inexplicably, inspired by the cult Lynch TV series. I mean, you can’t really imagine Kyle MacLachlan throwing back a hot cup of Joe in a Starcrossed Leather Dress, but then again there’s no accounting for inspiration and the crazy stunts it pulls.
For two special months Therese is treating us to a real shop where you can stop by, dress up, and drop donuts on the wares (don’t actually do this). It’s got all these pre-fab bricks you normally see in suburban courtyards, stuffed with ferns, and somehow it works. The rest is just neat and easy and lets the clothes breathe.
And will we go? To quote our man D.C. (HAHAHA! SEEWHATIDIDTHERE!): “Harry, that goes without saying.”
