Across The Board
published on 31st July, 2007

Once upon a time, in a land of frosty winds and molten grey skies, one hundred blank skateboard decks were delivered to the cheerful folk at Amnesia Skateboards. Nothing unusual there. But on this fine day an unexpected discovery was made concerning two inches and the fact the boards were missing exactly that much. Realising that someone along the line had made a costly mistake, the Amnesia collective had a weighty decision to make: destroy or recreate?**A few discussions and several cold refreshments later an idea was born: invite 100 people from different areas of art and design – painters, sculptors, graphic designers, graffiti artists and everyone in between – to use these decks as their canvas and re-create a non-functional object into an expression of their personality. And lo, ACROSS THE BOARD was born.**This Friday ACROSS THE BOARD opens at Wallspace Gallery in Surry Hills and runs for one week. All proceeds made from the sale of the boards will go to the Cancer Council NSW. Hopefully everyone will then live happily ever after. The end.
