These after hours initiatives, from Jurassic Lounge to Late Night Library at Surry Hills, are really loosening up our inner nerds. They’re luring them to a safe place and spiking the punch, all while fanning the ancient flicker of our 11-month dinosaur phase and making us wanna reinstate the hand-stitched book bag.
The State Library is the latest institution to humour our secret desire to be accidentally locked in overnight. As a part of their ‘Tuesdays in the Galleries’ events, they’re hosting the launch of Ampersand Issue 4: From the heart of the forest to the edge of the road.
This is the first official quarterly issue of Ampersand – an impressive feat from a publication which, by their own admission, used to surface “about once every Halley’s Comet”. With the help of Art & Australia they’ve delivered another handsome digest, with rich and varied contributions from Bob Brown, Nick Coyle, Amelia Groom and Stella Mozgawa from Warpaint. And where better to launch it, than a veritable brainforest like the State Library. Bring your monogrammed book bag, we’ll save you a spot.
