Entering the Sydney Harbour abode of my heroes’ creator was like doing rolly pollys in God’s flowerbeds. Apparently, those irises were May Gibbs’s pride and joy, but what does a 7-year-old care? All I wanted to do was fiddle with her antique drawings and china drawer.
