The Vinyl Arcade

Wetting your pants, sleeping with the lights on and getting pocket money from your parents won’t win you no honeys, but thanks to this totally original piece you can get your kicks from kids toys in style. How? Through interactive installation art of course – it’s the sickest way to behave like a six year old while maintaining your street cred.

Listen up now, because this complicated concept is worth getting your head around. The Vinyl Arcade is a participatory play-set. It is an immersive sound system, where competitors race remote-controlled cars with attached audio pick-ups over a racetrack of disused vinyl records. Video projections keep you hooked up to the car’s point-of-view, and your car’s movements produce the soundtrack. This here is a feast for your eyes, ears and gaming trigger fingers.

Check things out at the opening night party then sign up for a time trial at the week-long exhibition. The fastest and most furious will progress to the closing night showdown. It will be a phat party and final race, where the winner wins prizes, slaps on the back and innumerable groupies.
