Two-Up

There’s certain appeal to the idea that ANZAC day is set aside in remembrance of the forebearers who died fighting to protect Australian values, so we honour that sacrifice by getting real pissed and gambling. Only the prudest of wowsers would suggest it is inappropriate, and they are welcome to remain sanctimoniously at home. The rest of us, meanwhile, will be downing schooners to the cries of "HEAD ‘EM UP" in some of the great drinking establishments around this city, fully enjoying the fistful of cash (won or merely withdrawn) that can be waved about in the two-up ring.**So, beer in hand and ready to heckle the tails-betters, Two Thousand directs you to the best (two-up) venues:

-The Courthouse Hotel, Newtown
-The Alexandria Hotel, Alexandria
-The Australian Hotel, The Rocks
-Your local RSL

*special mention also goes to the Tattersalls Club, where Grandpa Vitlin used to roll after the parade.
