Where can you see gay cowboys, Godard and a disturbed, drum wielding child frolicking together in the sunny springtime of October? The Chauvel of course. Their Cinematheque program continues into October with a deliciously idiosyncratic selection of films from the 60s and 70s to wile the warm Monday nights away.
This month sees Godard and Andy Warhol take on the Western with two very different results (Wind from the East and Lonesome Cowboys). Think political polemic and homoerotic satire, respectively.
Following on is The Hustler, an Andy Warhol and Peter Morrissey collaboration which charts the exploits of a young hustler on “Fire Island”. Wrapping up the October schedule is the Tin Drum, the Oscar and Palm D’Or winning film adaption of Günter Grass‘ classic novel.
So go on, take Godard’s hand and frolic with the gay cowboys on Fire Island.
