Photo Diary by Aya Okabe

Tuesday April 22, 2014

“The day after a person dear to me had passed away, I headed to Umabashi Park in Koenji to reserve a spot for hanami. These photos were shot within the bounds of the space - barely 10 metres across - that I was holding. After the shock of the previous day, it felt as though I was shooting in a daze, yet somehow, time passed by. And from that small space, I could feel that no matter what, the world keeps turning.”

Aya Okabe is a photographer based in Tokyo. In 2011, she joined Gallery Kaido and has been publishing her own newspaper 'Appare Shinbun' more or less every month since.
